Statement from Michael Ignatieff, Leader of the Official Opposition, on the Celebration of Easter

On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our parliamentary caucus, I would like to extend warm wishes to all Canadians celebrating Easter this weekend.

This most holy of Christian holidays commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Falling during Canada's spring season, this celebration also reminds us of the powerful potential for renewal.

It is my hope that all Canadians, regardless of their faith, can share in the sense of new beginnings provided by this holiday and enjoy these early days of spring.

To those gathering with family and friends this special weekend, please accept my best wishes for a happy Easter.

Déclaration de Michael Ignatieff, chef de l'Opposition officielle, à l'occasion de Pâques

Au nom du Parti libéral du Canada et de notre groupe parlementaire, je tiens à présenter mes meilleurs voux à tous les Canadiens qui célèbrent Pâques en fin de semaine.

La plus importante des fêtes chrétiennes souligne la mort et la résurrection de Jésus-Christ. Cette fête étant célébrée au printemps, elle nous rappelle aussi toute le potentiel de renouveau que nous portons tous en nous.

J'espère que tous les Canadiens, quelle que soit leur confession, pourront partager le nouveau départ que nous donne cette fête et profiter des premiers jours du printemps.

À tous ceux qui se réuniront en famille et entre amis pendant cette fin de semaine si particulière, je souhaite de joyeuses Pâques.
