Amnistie Internationale craint que la prudence des États -Unis envers la Chine ait pour effet de sacrifier les droits humains. «Dans la nuit [les Chinois] ont éteint les lumières et ils ont pénétré dans les quartiers ouïghours et tué 10 000 Ouïghours. La Chine montre 187 morts et 1500 blessés, alors que derrière cela le nombre de Ouïghours qui sont morts dépasse largement ces chiffres officiels»
